Warhammer 40k OK, I get it - painting the Warhammer 40k Leviathan Tyranids models with Contrast paints isn't exactly a revolutionary, existential discovery on a par with, say, Newtonian physics, the unravelling of the human genome, or the moment you first realise those little paper ketchup pots at McDonalds pull out to become bigger ketchup pots.

Since there are ton some of different hive fleets and only few of them have been identified, this leaves massively open possibilities to colour schemes for tyranids without being too contradictory to the fluff. My 7 tyranid colour schemes. Think I like #3 best for their simplicity & contrast. Though #2 is pretty slick also. Great work all round. All of them look great (nice detail work btw) but my favourite is the black ops one :)

The patchy color was also applied on the chest area, some pics from the Hormagaunt: Next step: tinting these parts with GW Flesh Tearers Red. The contrast paint will work only on the pale areas leaving almost untouched the black-blue, hence creating a nice transition. On the heads, i drew the same irregular red shapes visible in the 3rd edition.

Tyranids are the only army in Warhammer 40,000 that is organic through and through, with absolutely no heraldry, armour, or insignias. To key into the organic, mutative nature of Tyranids we decided to vary up the Leviathan scheme more than before.

Red and blue wins out over me (which is a real shock- that's generally my least favourite of the three main tyranid themes) but you've really done it justice! First picture 2nd from top looks the most menacing. Maybe with some bone colored claws. Second picture bottom one is my runner up.

Tyranid paint scheme ideas . I have recently just got into the hobby and I stumbled across the tyranid's and instantly feel in love with them! However I am struggling for paint schemes for my army. A lot of the paints schemes I have seen are all brightly coloured like light blue, pink etc and I am not a big fan, Ive seen some good.
